5 websites for free photos for your website

Everyone understands that images are essential for any website. But where to find free images without reference?

How can I find free images?

There are several ways to find free images. Most people think that they only need to look in libraries or galleries. But there are many other places where you can find free images.

For example, you can download free images from websites like Pixabay or Unsplash. These websites offer thousands of high-quality, royalty-free images that you can use for your projects. You don’t have to worry about violating any copyrights because these images are royalty-free.

Here’s a list of 5 resources I always use to get free images.

All screenshots are created with the search term “Beach” to get a comparison of what you get for pictures.

You may use Unsplash images for free for anything. You just can’t sell them or use them on a website that competes with Unsplash. You can find the license here. Unsplash is usually my first choice when searching for images.

For Beach there were 47,6 thousand images on Unsplash.

Pixabay

Pixabay, like Unsplash, allows you to use the images for free, with a few exceptions.

You can find the Pexels license here. You can modify the images for personal and commercial use and use them without reference.

Flickr

Flickr has images with all kinds of licenses. Therefore, you have to click on “Any license” and then activate the filter “Commercial use & mods allowed”. This way you will only get images that are allowed to be used and customized commercially.

Flickr found over 1.6 million images for the term “beach”.

How can I make sure that I am not infringing any copyrights?

The best way to make sure you don’t violate any copyrights is to only use images that you’ve created yourself or that are licensed under a Creative Commons license.

When downloading an image from another website, always make sure you carefully read and understand the website’s terms of use.

Many websites offer free images, but it is important to note that some of these images may still be copyrighted. Before using an image, you should always contact the creator of the image and ask for permission.

Why should I use free photos?

There are many reasons why you should use free images. For one thing, they’re free and you’ll save money on licensed images. Even if you’re not a professional photographer, you can get great results with the right free images.

In addition, there are many free image sources on the Internet, so you are guaranteed to find the right image for your project. Even if you are pressed for time, finding the right image is no problem.

And last but not least: With free images, you can also convince the impatient. After all, who wants to pay for something that’s also available for free?

Conclusion

Flickr has the most images with over 1.6 million. However, Flickr is more complicated because all licenses can be found there. This is not the case with the others.
