The Divi Theme is one of the most popular WordPress themes there is. I also use this theme most of the time. However, it has one big disadvantage, like all other page builders, and that is the speed.
That’s why, in this article, I’ll show you how to improve your Divi speed.
Why is it so important to improve Divi Theme speed?
The most important point is of course for the visitors. Your visitors’ time is precious, if they have to wait a few seconds for your page to load, they may already be gone and on to your competitor’s website.
Another reason is for SEO. Meanwhile, speed is a ranking factor.
Divi speed optimization – my tips:
Choose the right hosting
Hosting is a very important point. You can’t make up for bad hosting with another optimization.
I recommend SiteGround. I have put together a complete article with WordPress hosting providers that you can find here.
Install WP Rocket
I also recommend installing WP Rocket. It costs a bit, but it is definitely the best plugin on the market in terms of speed optimization.
WP Rocket does a lot to make your website faster:
- Combines and minifies CSS and JS (minify is when the files are made very small).
- Optimised browser caching
- Static cache
- Database optimisation
I wrote a detailed review of WP Rocket, which you can find here.
If WP Rocket is too expensive for you, you can also have it installed by a Fiverr expert. Click here to do so.
Cloudflare has a free CDN that you can use to make your website load fast worldwide.
A server is always in one location, if you use a CDN your website is sent to the website visitor from many CDN servers around the world and is thus closer to the location of the visitor.
My Divi Speed after optimization
With the setup described above, I get a mobile speed of 75 and a desktop speed of 97.
